About ReSound
ReSound: Kathak in the Streets is a celebration of kathak dance featuring pop-up street performances and workshops to educate and inspire audiences of all ages. Conceived and choreographed by Rukhmani Mehta (previously Rina Mehta), this outdoor series was created in response to the global pandemic as a way to nourish local communities with live art and share the joy of kathak with audiences across California. The ReSound premiere offered 12 free performances and 9 workshops over the course of 10 days at a variety of iconic locations including Union Square and Japantown Peace Plaza in San Francisco, and Grand Park and Santa Monica’s Third Street Promenade in Los Angeles. This festival-style work is highly customizable and can compliment one of LDC’s larger productions. ReSound is ideal for community and neighborhood engagement strategies, as well as world music and dance festivals.
