The Leela Academy’s Los Angeles location is proud to bring world class education in kathak dance to students across the greater Southern California region. Under the leadership of Rukhmani Mehta (previously Rina Mehta), kathak artist & senior disciple of Pt. Chitresh Das, the academy provides age-appropriate educational programs for children and youth, open classes for professionals and dance enthusiasts of all levels, and pre-professional training for aspiring dancers. Through, classes, performances, and special events, the academy provides individuals and communities across Southern California with access to the best in Indian classical dance and music.

Centered around a holistic approach to kathak, the Leela Academy’s Denver location is led by Dr. Sarah Morelli, a student of both the great sarod Maestro Ali Akbar Khansahib and kathak master Pandit Chitresh Das. Serving the Colorado Front Range, the academy provides classes and educational programs for students of all ages, levels, and backgrounds. Students at the academy have the opportunity to participate in performances and special events throughout the year and benefit from joint programming with the Lamont School of Music’s North Indian Classical Ensemble at the University of Denver.
