Arts Education<\/h3>\n

Leela Dance Collective is proud to be a part of\u00a0The Music Center on Tour<\/a>, a premiere arts education program, serving children and youth at K-12 schools across the greater Los Angeles area.\u00a0Leela’s school assemblies introduce students to the tradition of kathak dance and are accompanied by educator guides and supplemental activities for the classroom that deepen learning.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The Collective has also partnered with <\/span>Carnegie Hall<\/a> to support its educational initiatives including\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>Link Up<\/a>, a program that\u00a0guides students in grades 3\u20135 through a yearlong exploration of orchestral repertoire and music making, and\u00a0<\/span>Musical Explorers<\/a>, a program presented by institutions around the country that\u00a0connects children to rich and diverse musical traditions through through listening, singing, and moving to songs from all over the world.<\/span><\/p>\n

Residencies<\/h3>\n

In partnership with presenting organizations around the country, Leela Dance Collective offers engaging residencies featuring a wide variety of programming. Residencies enhance audience’s connection with the artform and enliven local communities including youth, seniors, families, and university students through unique performing arts experiences.\u00a0Leela Dance Collective has worked with many institutions to create meaningful residency activities including a kathak and tap jam session with NC State Live, a week-long <\/span>Virtual Residency<\/a> with Page Theater, and kathak and tap workshops with Maui Arts and Cultural Center, University of Hawaii, and Kahilu Theatre.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Dance & Music Workshops<\/span><\/h3>\n

We are proud to offer workshops and master classes year-round in partnership with educational institutions, performing arts centers, and cultural and community groups that introduce audiences to kathak dance and Hindustani classical music.\u00a0Our educational programming engages students of all ages and backgrounds, ranging from introductory classes for beginners with little to no dance and music experience to immersive workshops for aspiring artists across genres.\u00a0<\/span>Leela Dance Collective boasts some of todays leading choreographers, composers, artists, and educators in the field of North Indian classical dance and music. Leela Academy<\/h3>\n

Leela Dance Collective’s work is rooted in community. Through our Academy, we provide year-round, comprehensive education and training in kathak dance to students of all ages and backgrounds. Our work with the academy allows us to stay connected to and be a part of the lived experiences of our community members – immigrants, people of color, women, families, and artists. Those lived experiences inform and fuel our artistic expression.\u00a0The Leela Academy serves communities in four locations –\u00a0San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, and New York. In addition we are proud to provide students around the world with access to educational resources\u00a0 through our online studio.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
